Dating back almost 600 years, Las Palmas Cathedral is one of the oldest and most important landmarks on the whole island of Gran Canaria. With a magnificent Neo-classical facade and a Gothic-style interior, highlights at the museum include three naves, palm-shaped columns and the Diocesan Museum of Religious Art, which is situated in the cathedral's southern wing and contains a number of important religious paintings.

Gran Canaria Landmarks and Monuments: Casas Consistoriales (City Hall) - Plaza de Santa Ana, 1, Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, 35001, Canary Islands, Spain
Now home to the local government, the Casas Consistoriales is a historic landmark dating back to the early 1500s. Open to the public, much of this notable building was rebuilt in the mid-19th century, following a destructive fire. Highlights include a large gallery area, imposing architecture and many detailed period features, including stone arches and columns.

Standing in the heart of Las Palmas, the Plaza de Santa Ana is a particularly historic spot and is surrounded by many old buildings. A popular meeting place with both Gran Canaria locals and tourists, Plaza de Santa Ana has origins back in the 16th century, although was considerably revamped in the 19th century.

A notable archaeological settlement known as the Witches' Plain, Llano de las Brujas features a many ancient constructions which were used for storing grain. A number of old burial mounds are also situated here. Llano de las Brujas is located in the Telde area of Gran Canaria.

Dating back to the 16th century, this ancient building has been extended and renovated a number of times over the years. With impressive architecture and many well-preserved features, the Palacio Episcopal is open to the public and is a much-visited site.
