Getting Around, Gran Canaria Travel and Gran Canaria Transport
(Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain)
One of the most famous of the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria has much to offer in the way of transport and travel options. Most holidaymakers visiting Gran Canaria travel by air, arriving at the Gran Canaria Airport (LPA), which is close Las Palmas, the island's capital.
For those looking for the independence of being able to explore Gran Canaria at their own pace, renting a car is often the preferred mode of transport, with car hire travel companies available at both Gran Canaria Airport and many of the main resorts. Not to be overlooked, the island's 'Global' bus transport is a particularly inexpensive way to travel around Gran Canaria, with discounted bus passes on offer. Taxis are readily available throughout Gran Canaria and are both reasonably priced and extremely convenient, with tourist taxis often offering personal guide tours of the island's main tourist attractions. Here are Gran Canaria's main types of public transport and travel.
